About
Laid out around 1930 together with the university buildings that frame it, the square is one of the largest in Hungary. Its arcades carry a national pantheon of portrait reliefs, and each summer it becomes an open-air theatre staging opera, musicals and concerts.
Best time to go: Visit in summer evenings when the square becomes the stage of the Szeged Open-Air Festival.
