About
Lining the west bank of the Huangpu River, the Bund's banks, hotels and trading houses were built in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when Shanghai was a great international port. Their Gothic, neoclassical and Art Deco façades form a remarkable architectural ensemble, looking across the water to the futuristic towers of Lujiazui.
Best time to go: Walk the riverside promenade at dusk, when the historic façades and the Pudong towers light up together.
