About
For centuries the rulers of Salzburg governed from the Residenz, which was largely rebuilt around 1600. Its state rooms are decorated with stucco and frescoes, the young Mozart played here for the court, and the Residenzgalerie displays European painting from the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries.
Best time to go: Combine the state rooms with the gallery upstairs and the cathedral museum on one ticket.
