About
Founded in 1899, the National Zoological Garden spreads along the Apies River in the heart of the city. It houses a wide range of African and international animals, along with an aquarium and reptile park. A cable car lifts visitors over the enclosures to a hilltop with views across the grounds and the city.
Best time to go: Arrive early, when the animals are most active, and take the cable car for the view over the grounds.
