About
Pretoria grew around this square in the nineteenth century, and it is framed by some of the city's finest buildings, including the Old Raadsaal, once parliament of the Boer republic, and the Palace of Justice, where the Rivonia Trial was held. At its centre stands a bronze statue of President Paul Kruger surrounded by figures of Boer burghers.
Best time to go: Walk around it in the morning, then continue a few blocks west to Kruger House.
