About
Begun in 1357 under Charles IV, the bridge was for centuries the only fixed crossing of the Vltava in the city, linking the Old Town with the Lesser Town. Thirty statues, mostly added around 1700, line its parapets, and Gothic towers guard each end; the Old Town Bridge Tower is among the finest in Europe.
Best time to go: Cross at sunrise for an almost empty bridge and the castle glowing above the river.
