About

Built in little more than a year during the Depression, the tower was the tallest building in the world for four decades. Its lobby is a fine example of Art Deco design, and open-air decks on the eighty-sixth floor give views in every direction. The mast at the top is lit in changing colours to mark holidays and events.

Best time to go: Go up late in the evening to see the city lights, when the queues are often shorter.
