About
The railway was built in the 1930s to lift freight trains off the streets, and after it fell out of use residents campaigned to save it. It reopened in stages from 2009 as a linear park planted with grasses and wildflowers, with art installations and views over the Hudson. It runs from the Meatpacking District to Hudson Yards.
Best time to go: Walk it from south to north on a weekday morning, then explore the Chelsea galleries below.
