About

Completed in the 1830s to designs by the Irish-American architect James O'Donnell, the church was one of the largest in North America. Its interior glows with blue and gold, carved woodwork and stained glass depicting the religious history of the city. A great Casavant organ and the intimate Chapel of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart are also memorable.

Best time to go: Look closely at the carved wooden altarpiece, then consider returning for the evening light show.
