About
After the earthquake of 1861 Mendoza was rebuilt around a large central square with four smaller plazas placed symmetrically around it, a plan that still shapes the city. Plaza Chile honours the close bond with the neighbouring country, forged when San Martín's army set out from Mendoza to help liberate Chile.
Best time to go: Stroll through on a walk linking the four satellite squares around Plaza Independencia.
