About
Opened in 1894, the bridge was designed so that its road decks could rise to let tall ships reach the Pool of London. Inside, an exhibition explains the original steam-powered machinery, and the high-level walkways offer long views up and down the river.
Best time to go: Cross on foot for free, or go up to the high walkways and stand on the glass floor.
