About
Begun soon after the Christian reconquest of Lisbon in 1147, the cathedral has been rebuilt many times after earthquakes, leaving a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and later styles. The cloister reveals excavated Roman, Moorish and medieval layers, while the treasury displays vestments and sacred silver.
Best time to go: Pair it with a walk up to Alfama, catching tram 28 as it rattles past the facade.
