About
Completed in the seventeenth century, the church and monastery survived Lima's earthquakes better than most buildings of the era. Guided tours take in tiled cloisters, a painted cedar dome, a library of antique books and the catacombs, where the bones of thousands of people buried in colonial times are arranged in eerie patterns.
Best time to go: Join one of the regular guided tours, the only way to see the library and the catacombs beneath the church.
