About

Tua Pek Kong Temple stands near the waterfront, opposite the Chinese History Museum, and is the oldest temple in Kuching. It is thought to have existed before 1839, and its recorded history begins in 1843. The temple came through the Great Fire of Kuching in 1884 and the bombing of the town in the Second World War. It is a stop on the Kuching Heritage Trail.

Best time to go: Visit in the morning, then cross the road to the Chinese History Museum.
