About
The Islamkhodja Madrasah stands in the centre of Itchan Kala and was built between 1908 and 1910. Its founder, Islam Khodja, was prime minister and father-in-law of Asfandiyar Khan. The two-storey madrasah had 42 rooms for its students, and a small mosque stands to the right of the entrance. Its main facade connects to a slender minaret that rises high above the surrounding rooftops.
Best time to go: Come in the late afternoon, when the minaret's tiled bands glow in the sun.
