About
Masjid-e-Tooba, often called the Gol Masjid or Round Mosque, was designed by the architect Babar Hameed Chauhan and built between 1966 and 1969. Its dome has a diameter of 65 metres and rests on a low surrounding wall, leaving the prayer hall free of columns. It is considered the largest single-dome mosque of its kind, holds up to 5,000 people and has a single minaret 37 metres tall.
Best time to go: Visit outside prayer times and dress modestly; the late afternoon light shows off the curve of the dome.
