About
Built in 1901 to mark the jubilee of Sultan Abdülhamid II, the tower was designed by the French architect Raymond Charles Père. It rises above four fountains, its slender form decorated with Ottoman and Moorish motifs, and the clock was a gift from the German Kaiser.
Best time to go: Visit in the evening, when the tower is lit and the square fills with people.
