About

A pagoda has stood on Baoshi Hill since the tenth century, and the present tapering brick tower was rebuilt in the 1930s after its predecessors fell or were damaged. The pagoda itself cannot be climbed, but the rocky hilltop around it, laced with paths and small terraces, gives some of the finest views over the lake, its causeways and the city beyond.

Best time to go: Climb the hill paths in the late afternoon for the view south over the whole of West Lake.
