About
Held on the riverbank in Altona since the early eighteenth century, the Fischmarkt draws early risers and night owls from the nearby Reeperbahn alike. Traders call out their bargains for fish, fruit and plants, and the restored Fish Auction Hall, built of iron and brick, fills with live music, fish rolls and cheerful crowds.
Best time to go: Come very early on a Sunday morning, when the market is in full cry and the band plays in the hall.
