About
Opened in 1923, the garden holds thousands of plant species across landscaped grounds and an arboretum. Its rock garden, with waterfalls and alpine plants, is especially admired, and the glasshouses include a tree from Easter Island that is extinct in the wild.
Best time to go: Visit in late spring, when the rhododendrons and the rock garden are at their best.
