About

Founded in the seventeenth century as a physic garden for medicinal plants, it moved to its current site at Inverleith in the 1820s. Highlights include the rock garden, the Chinese hillside, a celebrated rhododendron collection and a fine view back to the skyline of the Old Town.

Best time to go: Come on a clear day for the view of the castle skyline from the garden's higher lawns.
