About
Completed in 1960, Niemeyer's building houses the Senate beneath its dome and the Chamber of Deputies beneath its upturned bowl, with the twin administrative towers rising between. Set on a wide lawn at the head of the Esplanade of Ministries, it is the defining image of the modernist capital, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Best time to go: Join a free guided tour to see the chambers, then walk around the reflecting pools outside.
