About
Opened in the 1960s, Niemeyer's building seems to float on its reflecting pool, with a sculpture by Bruno Giorgi in the water. Inside, a sweeping unsupported spiral staircase and gardens by Roberto Burle Marx sit alongside works by major Brazilian artists, making it perhaps the most beautiful building in the capital.
Best time to go: Book a guided tour to see the spiral staircase and the art collection inside.
