Behind a colonnaded facade that looks more like a Greek temple than a church, the cathedral holds a richly decorated interior of Baroque altars and Venetian-style floor mosaics. A mausoleum guarded by mounted grenadiers contains the remains of General José de San Martín, the hero of South American independence.
