À propos
Laid out at the end of the seventeenth century, the square takes its name from a regiment of gendarmes once stationed here. Its French and German Churches, with matching domed towers added in the 1780s, face each other across the square, and between them stands Karl Friedrich Schinkel's neoclassical Konzerthaus, home to the Konzerthausorchester.
Meilleur moment pour y aller: Visit in the evening before a concert, or in December for the elegant Christmas market.
