Built by the Incas above their capital, the complex is famous for its three tiers of zigzag terraces made of enormous stones fitted without mortar. It was the scene of a fierce battle during the Spanish conquest in 1536, and every June it hosts the re-enactment of Inti Raymi, the Inca festival of the sun.
Beste Besuchszeit: Walk up from San Blas in the morning and allow time to take in the views over Cusco.
