About
Founded in the sixteenth century, the convent was home to a small community of friars who lived in extreme simplicity among the granite boulders. Its tiny cells, chapels and refectory are lined with cork for insulation, and the silence of the woods is part of the experience.
Best time to go: Wear sturdy shoes, as the cells and passages are low, narrow and uneven.
