About
Founded in 1689, Chiesa di San Pietro preserves a valuable inlaid marble altar donated in the same year, with a statue of Saint Peter above it. The crypt contains two niches said by tradition to have been the beds of Saint Marinus and Saint Leo, and the church also recalls Garibaldi and Anita’s refuge here in 1849.
Best time to go: Visit quietly to take in the altar and crypt, and to appreciate its layered religious and historic associations.
