Opened in the 1960s, the museum holds a strong collection of South African art from the colonial period to the present. It is particularly known for landscapes by Jacob Hendrik Pierneef and works by artists such as Irma Stern, Gerard Sekoto and Maggie Laubser, alongside changing exhibitions of contemporary work.
