About
The Perth Mint opened in 1899 as a branch of the Royal Mint to refine the gold flooding in from the Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie fields. Its limestone buildings still house a working mint, and the exhibition shows gold nuggets, coins and bullion, with demonstrations of molten gold being poured into a bar.
Best time to go: Time your visit to see a live gold pour in the old melting house.
