About

Munch left his vast estate of paintings, prints and drawings to the city, and this thirteen-storey building opened in 2021 to show it. Rotating displays trace his development from grief-stricken early works to the bold colour of his later years, with versions of The Scream shown in turns to protect them. Upper floors offer sweeping views across the harbour.

Best time to go: Take the lift to the top floors first for the fjord views, then work your way down through the galleries.
