About
Laid out at the end of the nineteenth century to plans by the landscape architect Charles Thays, the park was planted on dry land and watered by the irrigation channels that keep the whole city green. It covers several hundred hectares, with a rowing lake, sports grounds, a rose garden and ornate entrance gates.
Best time to go: Hire a bicycle and ride the shady avenues to the lake, then continue up to Cerro de la Gloria.
