About
After fire destroyed most of the medieval palace in 1834, Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin rebuilt it in exuberant Gothic Revival style. Westminster Hall survives from the eleventh century, and the great bell known as Big Ben still marks the hours from the tower at the northern end.
Best time to go: Walk across Westminster Bridge at dusk for the classic view of the lit clock tower.
