About
Thean Hou Temple stands on Robson Heights, a hill south of the centre with wide views over Kuala Lumpur. It is dedicated to Mazu, the Chinese goddess of the sea, and rises in six tiers. The temple was built by the city's Hainanese community, completed in 1987 and officially opened in 1989. It is one of the largest temples in Southeast Asia and is still run by the Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association.
Best time to go: Go in the late afternoon for city views from the terraces, and stay for the lanterns once they light up.
