About
The Meridian Gate, Ngọ Môn, is the main entrance to the Imperial City of Huế, set in the southern wall of the enclosure. Also known as the South Gate, it was the ceremonial gateway of the Nguyễn court. For most visitors it is the first sight of the palace complex and one of the defining images of Huế. Beyond it lie the courtyards, halls and gardens of the palace, so it makes a natural starting point for exploring the citadel.
Best time to go: Arrive at opening time for photos without the crowds.
