About
Built in the eighth century alongside Bulguksa, the artificial grotto is constructed of granite blocks around a great seated Buddha that looks out towards the sea. Carved bodhisattvas and guardians line its walls, and it is protected today behind glass as part of the World Heritage Site.
Best time to go: Go up early for the chance of seeing the sun rise over the East Sea from the mountain.
