About
Founded in 1320 and dedicated to the patron saint of sailors, the church has been enlarged and altered over the centuries. Tradition says Christopher Columbus prayed here on a voyage to Galway, and inside are medieval tombs and carvings, while a weekend market fills the lane beside it.
Best time to go: Visit on a Saturday, when the market sets up in the street outside.
