About
The Lynches were the most powerful of the fourteen merchant tribes that governed medieval Galway, which is why it is still called the City of the Tribes. Their stone townhouse, dating largely from around 1500, has carved coats of arms, gargoyles and window mouldings, and now houses a bank.
Best time to go: Look up at the carved stonework as you walk along Shop Street.
