About

Completed in 1973, the tower was the tallest building in the world for about twenty-five years. Its bundled-tube structure was a breakthrough in skyscraper engineering. The Skydeck on the 103rd floor offers views over the city and Lake Michigan, and glass boxes project from the facade so visitors can look straight down.

Best time to go: Go up just before sunset to see the city by day and by night, and step out onto the glass ledge.
