About
Founded in 1879, the museum is guarded by two bronze lions on Michigan Avenue. Its collection includes Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Grant Wood's American Gothic and Edward Hopper's Nighthawks, along with a superb group of Monets. The Modern Wing, designed by Renzo Piano, links to Millennium Park by a footbridge.
Best time to go: Head first to the Impressionist galleries, then find Nighthawks and American Gothic in the American collection.
