About
Completed in 1969 as a showpiece of the German Democratic Republic, the tower rises to 368 metres above Alexanderplatz. A fast lift carries visitors to the observation deck in the steel sphere, where the whole city spreads out below, and a revolving restaurant sits just above it. When the sun strikes the sphere, it famously reflects a cross of light.
Best time to go: Book a timed ticket and aim for a clear day, ideally around sunset.
