About
The monastery was founded in the fourteenth century, and its great chedi is associated with King Naresuan's celebrated victory over a Burmese crown prince in an elephant duel in 1592. Rows of seated Buddha images wrapped in saffron cloth line the courtyard, and a large reclining Buddha lies nearby.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning and climb the great chedi for a view over the rows of saffron-robed Buddhas.
