نبذة

The Danish architect Jørn Utzon won the design competition in 1957, and after years of engineering struggle and his departure from the project, the building opened in 1973. Its shells are clad in more than a million glazed tiles, and inside there are several theatres and concert halls. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2007.
