Designed by Samuel Swinton Jacob and opened in 1887, the building mixes Rajput domes and arches with Victorian ideas of the public museum. Its galleries hold carpets, pottery, metalwork, miniature paintings and arms, as well as an Egyptian mummy that remains one of its most visited exhibits.
