À propos
Built by the Almohads in the twelfth century, the Koutoubia takes its name from the booksellers who once traded around it. Its sandstone minaret, some 77 metres tall, became a model for the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. The prayer hall is open only to Muslims, but the gardens and the excavated foundations of the first mosque can be seen by all.
Meilleur moment pour y aller: Walk the gardens around it at sunset, when the minaret glows and the call to prayer carries over the square.
