Built on oak piles from the 1880s to the 1920s, the Speicherstadt stored coffee, tea, spices and carpets in a free port zone. Its neo-Gothic brick warehouses with turrets and gables rise straight from the canals. Together with the neighbouring Kontorhaus district and the Chilehaus it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Meilleur moment pour y aller: Walk the bridges at dusk when the warehouses are illuminated, or see them from a canal launch.
