For five centuries Wawel was the seat of Polish monarchs, and its arcaded Renaissance courtyard is one of the finest in central Europe. The State Rooms hold a remarkable series of Flemish tapestries commissioned by Sigismund Augustus, and the Crown Treasury and Armoury display regalia and weapons.
