Empress Market was built during the British Raj and remains one of the busiest places to shop in Karachi. Inside and around the building, traders sell condiments, fruit, vegetables and meat alongside stationery, textiles and even pets. It sits in Saddar, one of the city's older commercial districts, with the recreational Jahangir Park close by. It is a good place to feel the everyday pace of the city.
