The Pão de Açúcar rises sharply from the water at the entrance to the bay, and its cable car, first opened in 1912, travels via the lower Morro da Urca to the summit. From the top the whole city unfolds, from Copacabana's curve of sand to Christ the Redeemer on its distant peak.
Beste Besuchszeit: Ride the cable car up in the late afternoon and stay on the summit for sunset over the city.
