Über diesen Ort
Wazir Khan, governor of Lahore under Shah Jahan, commissioned this mosque as part of a wider ensemble that also included public baths nearby. Built between 1634 and 1641, it is often called the most ornately decorated mosque of the Mughal era. Its faience tile panels, known as kashi-kari, and its densely painted interior surfaces set it apart, and it sits on UNESCO's tentative list.
Beste Besuchszeit: Go in the morning, before the bazaar around it grows crowded, and look up at the painted ceilings; dress modestly.
